Apple, the tech company giant, enabled an update to the Google Maps for iOS app, which would make it easier to navigate when it’s dark outside, diminishing risks of using the app while driving. As of recently, the app introduced a feature entitled “Night Mode”, which enables a darker display on your iOS device instead of the one shining intensely and brightly – the default look for Google Maps.
The application now bears the number 4.9.0 and is available for download from the App Store. Also, a certainty is that Google Maps has always been better seen by consumers and stronger than Apple Maps, when it comes to mapping and public transport directions, despite the fact that Apple Maps has had night mode before the Google app.
The key to this change is that your eyes won’t have to adjust to the amount of light spread by your iOS gadget, while switching between the bright display and the dark road ahead. Thus, your “night vision” will be improved, whereas turning the sight from the previous bright display into a pitch black distance could evidently cause vision loss.
We’re talking about a minor feature release, but a step forward for the millions of drivers who rely on Google Maps instead of another navigational system.
Night Mode is currently live on iOS and, furthermore, on Android devices for quite a while now. It is claimed that many iOS customers have been waiting for this effective improvement for years. The good part is that it’s automatic, so you don’t have to toggle between turning it on or off, as Night Mode will only activate itself in the dark, when it’s actually night time.
The update is enhanced with other interesting features, for instance – the ability to label places to spot them on your map and in search suggestions, which would offer a more personalized, user-friendly experience, and the capacity to edit the captions of photos you uploaded on Google Maps.
Basically, all that needs to be done is to update your device to the latest version of Google Maps, thus the enhancement will appear precisely when you need it, all in all.
It would also be worth mentioning that Google’s application now lets users know when a local business is most crowded so they can avoid the busiest timeframes.
