Florida Thief Told Elderly Couple that His Kitten Ran Away
According to Miranda Grossman, a Florida Police Department spokesperson, the 49-year-old suspect, later identified as Robert Nolan Young, showed up at the elderly couple’s residence on Sunday. After knocking on the door, Young was greeted by an elderly woman.
The suspect told his victim that his kitten ran away from home and needed help in order to recover him. Unsuspecting, the woman went inside the house and into the kitchen to search for some tuna or anything Young could use in order to lure the kitten.
As soon as the woman left the front door, Young followed her into the house and assaulted her. According to Grossman, the woman’s elderly brother was also inside the home when Young assaulted his sister.
Allegedly, Young used ropes to restrain the woman and her brother. Before leaving the house, Young savagely beat the elderly man and stole an unspecified number of household items. Fortunately, the woman managed to flee from Young and sought refuge inside a neighbor’s house from where she called the authorities.
At this point, it’s unclear how the suspect managed to escape from the apartment. The elderly man could not provide any details as to Young’s escape since he was unconscious.
Following the arrival of the authorities, the elderly man was rushed to the hospital. Momentarily, the Florida thief managed to elude the authorities who declared that the man has an active arrest warrant after he raided a house in Miramar.
