Clovis police officers recently apprehended an 18-year-old woman who allegedly gave birth and disposed of the newborn in a trash can. The newborn was declared dead at the scene and the mother charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering physical injury to an infant.
Newborn in Trashcan was Born on Wednesday
According to the Clovis Police Department, on Thursday morning, an individual dialed 911 and informed the dispatcher that something was wrong with the trashcans in the neighborhood. The emergency dispatcher was informed that several bloodstains were found on the street and a trashcan was entirely covered in blood.
The fire and police departments were directed to the Alluvial and Minnewawa are for further investigation. Upon arriving at the area, the investigators discovered the body of a newly born boy dumped in the trashcan.
The authorities began combing the area to locate the mother of the newborn. According to the official report, the search led them to a house not far away from where the deceased infant was found. Upon questioning the members of the house, the authorities determined that the baby was born on Wednesday morning and belonged to 18-year-old Angela Hamilton.
As a precautionary measure, the mother of the newborn in trashcan was transported to the local hospital for medical attention. According to Angela’s parents, no one around the house knew the 18-year-old was pregnant nor were they aware that their daughter has given birth.
After her convalescence, Angela will be scheduled to appear in court where she will have to answer to the charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering physical injury to an infant.
Although the authorities determined that Angela Hamilton is the mother of the unfortunate infant found in the trashcan, the case is still under scrutiny to determine how the child passed away.
