Marco Holmes, a 22-year-old man from Baltimore and the boyfriend of the 20-year-old woman found dead in Daisy Field last week has been taken into custody. Holmes has been named a person of interest in Tonja Chadwick’s murder after the two officers were dispatched to Chadwick’s house several weeks before to settle a domestic argument. Holmes was also wanted for violating the terms of his probation.
On Wednesday after, the Baltimore police officials took 22-year-old Marco Holmes into custody and charged him with the murder if his 20-year-old girlfriend. According to T.J. Smith, a spokesperson for Baltimore’s PD, Holmes’s was apprehended at his Northeast Baltimore house without any incidents and, at the moment, the suspect is being cooperative.
Marco Holmes is currently being investigated in connection with the disappearance and murder of Tonja Chadwick, his girlfriend. According to the police officials, the woman was last seen alive on the 28th of January, as she was living her aunt’s Belair-Edison residence.
Five days later, the law enforcement officers found Chadwick’s body discarded in a heavily-wooded area in Baltimore. The coroner’s report suggests that the woman suffered severe trauma prior to death, which might indicate that the woman was attacked, possibly by her boyfriend.
However, as Smith pointed out, Holmes is, at the moment only a suspect in Chadwick’s murder, but he was taken into custody for an older felony. According to the Baltimore authorities, in 2015, Marco Holmes pleaded guilty to an armed robbery charge and was sentenced to serve 18 years in prison.
After one year spends in a state penitentiary, Holmes was released on probation. However, the man was wanted by the law again, after violating one the terms of his probation regarding employment and enrolling in an educational program.
When the authorities learned that the ex-convict breached one of the terms stipulated in the agreement, they went to Holmes’s house in order to arrest the man, only to find out that he changed his address.
T.J. Smith, Baltimore Police’s spokesperson, declared that Tonja Chadwick was killed in the same apartment visited by the officers several weeks ago, and her body dragged to the nearby park where it was discarded.
Smith believes that in the event Marco Holmes is found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in cold blood, the judge might recommend the capital punishment. The case is currently under development, and we will provide you with regular updates.
