Health officials announced on October 4 that salmonella cases are related to eggs which were on the market. The bacteria were related to products from the Good Earth Egg Company. There are three affected states, namely Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri.
The Good Earth Egg Company also announced a recall of the products from the shelves. The announcement was made after eight salmonella cases were reported in the three states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared that the patients were infected with Salmonella Oranienburg originating from eggs.
The infected products were withdrawn from restaurants and markets in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri, but in other states too. Companies and other clients of the Good Earth Egg Company will also be safe from risks thanks to the recall.
Officials advise buyers to check the labels before purchase. There are several brands related to the Good Earth Egg Company. If customers have such products at home, they are advised not to consume them. Another suggestion for them is to ask shop assistants about information on the provider.
Consumers are also advised not to return the products to the stores. They can simply throw them away. However, specialists draw people’s attention that they need to carefully clean the area where they kept the infected products, to avoid the risk of spreading.
The company is cooperating with health authorities in order to discover the source. The company also declared that their products had tested negative for the bacteria for the time being. They also intend to offer customers compensation for the trouble they might have caused. So people are invited to write to them on their official e-mail address.
The Good Earth Egg Company was involved in a similar situation last year. There were fifty-two salmonella cases linked to their products, which caused an outbreak. Specialists at CDC say that the type of salmonella in 2015 is similar to that in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri.
Health experts say that abdominal pain, fever, vomiting, and nausea stand as the main symptoms of salmonella. People with weak immune systems are often affected. Children and the elderly are also prone to the infection, which is also much more aggressive with them than with strong, healthy adults.
There are rare cases which lead to complications. They happen if the infection gets into the blood system, triggering further health problems.
